
About Havadoodles
What is a Havadoodle?
A Havadoodle is a mix between a Havanese and Mini Poodle. They are also known to be called an Havapoo, Poovanese, or Island Mini Doodle. They can be anywhere from 15-40lbs, and 7-14 inches tall. It all depends on the size of the parents. Ours are estimated to be between 12-16lbs.
Life Span?
The life span of Havadoodles are known to live anywhere from 12-15 years.
Are Havadoodles good with other Pets and Kids?
Havadoodles are amazing with kids and other pets, especially if they are introduced at an early age. Our puppies are introduced to both from the day they are born.
Characteristics?
Havadoodles are very intelligent and loyal. They mostly get their intelligence from the Poodle, though Havanese are pretty smart and easy to train as well. They are a perfect lap dog, but love walks and adventure. They will stick to you like glue once the connection is made. Extremely loyal and loving. Willing to please and make you happy. They love learning new tricks to keep their mind sharp.
Exercise
They love to go for walks and runs and need some space like a yard to burn off energy, especially as a puppy. They are a perfect dog for apartment life, as long as they are taking on regular walks.
Are Havadoodles good Therapy Dogs?
Both the Havanese and Poodle are known to be good therapy dogs. Havadoodle's are smart, intelligent, and extremely loyal. Making them a good Therapy dogs, and emotional support dogs given the proper training and of course love.
Coat and Care
Havadoodles are Hypoallergenic and non-shedding, meaning people with mild allergies shouldn’t have issues. This being said it does mean that they do require regular grooming and brushing. They can take from both parents with coat, the shorter curly from the Poodle, and the soft and longer coat from the Havanese.
Health Concerns?
Some known health concerns that come from the Poodle and Havanese are; Cataract, Hip Dysplasia, Hypothyroidism, Patella Luxation and Dental Problems. Crossbred dogs are less likely to develop congenital conditions from their parents because the gene pool is much larger. That being said it is still possible. Regular Veterinarian visits are recommended to keep the dog happy and healthy.
